WAREX Valve has launched custom lightweight DN400/DN500 butterfly valves purpose-built for industrial weighing systems. Optimized for minimal weight, leak-tight sealing and low operating force, the new units simplify installation, cut maintenance workload and raise overall equipment efficiency for manufacturers.
Created to fulfill client requests for lighter weighing system hardware without compromising reliability or sealing performance, the valves guarantee zero leakage for bulk solids amid tough industrial operating conditions.
An aluminium disc forms the foundation of its lightweight design, while a reworked low-friction internal mechanism drastically reduces opening/closing torque requirements. This enables pairing with compact, lightweight Rotork RC240 pneumatic quarter-turn actuators. The matched actuator weighs only 4.9 kg and generates 300 Nm torque at 6 bar air pressure.
Fully assembled with actuators, DN400 weighs 22 kg and DN500 weighs 31 kg. Compared with WAREX’s standard DN500 DKZ 110 valve (62 kg), the new model cuts weight by around 50%. Against traditional DN500 grey cast iron valves (up to 150 kg), weight savings reach nearly 80%.
The reduced unit mass lowers strain on supporting structures and surrounding equipment. No heavy lifting tools are required during installation and servicing, shortening project timelines and reducing ongoing maintenance costs.
Suited for weighing equipment, mobile processing machines and space-limited installations, the valves excel in frequently moved setups and projects prioritizing low structural load.
