AMPO POYAM VALVES Secures Contract to Deliver 180 Valves for Aramco’s Riyas NGL Project

AMPO POYAM VALVES has secured an order to supply 180 tailor-made large-bore gate valves (including a considerable quantity of cryogenic-type gate valves) for Saudi Arabia’s Riyas NGL Fractionation Trains Project. Saudi Aramco acts as the end user of this strategic project, and Spanish renowned engineering enterprise Técnicas Reunidas undertakes the EPC general contracting task.

Built in Jubail of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, the Riyas NGL fractionation plant is part of Phase II construction for the Middle East’s largest unconventional gas field—the Jafurah Unconventional Gas Field. Two sets of parallel fractionation trains with a daily processing capacity of 255,000 barrels each will process NGL feedstock from Jafurah, with supporting separation, purification, dehydration and refrigeration units to produce ethane, propane, butane and pentane. The project is vital for Aramco to lift gas output and optimize its energy layout in the long run.

The complicated operating environment puts forward strict requirements for valve performance. AMPO will provide 148 cryogenic gate valves sized up to 64-inch Class 600, plus general-purpose large gate valves up to 68-inch Class 600. The combination of oversized dimension and rigorous cryogenic working conditions renders this project a highly technical challenging milestone for AMPO.

Relying on its solid brand credibility and rich engineering experience in large-size and cryogenic valve design & fabrication for severe service conditions, AMPO gained full trust from the EPC contractor Técnicas Reunidas and Saudi Aramco, eventually winning this key valve supply contract.
