AMPO POYAM VALVES to Supply Cryogenic Valves for Abu Dhabi’s Ruwais Project

AMPO POYAM VALVES has won a contract to deliver high‑specification engineered cryogenic ball valves for the Ruwais LNG project in Abu Dhabi, one of the flagship low‑carbon LNG developments now under construction across the Middle East. Developed by ADNOC and situated in Al Ruwais Industrial City, the Ruwais LNG project’s EPC package was awarded to Technip Energies, who leads the TJN RUWAIS JV partnership alongside JGC and NMDC Energy. The facility features two natural gas liquefaction trains with a combined annual output of 9.6 million tonnes of LNG. Distinct from conventional LNG plants, this facility adopts electric motor drives instead of gas turbines and runs on clean power. It marks the first LNG export plant in the MENA region powered by clean energy and ranks among the world’s lowest carbon intensity LNG assets. Once operational, the project will more than double ADNOC’s LNG production capacity, supporting rising global natural gas demand while advancing the energy sector’s decarbonization agenda. Under the contract scope, AMPO POYAM VALVES will supply cryogenic ball valves ranging from 3” to 24”, to be deployed on onshore liquefaction units for both electric-driven trains. The order, currently in production, covers over 600 cryogenic ball valves in total. AMPO has specialized in the design and manufacturing of cryogenic ball valves since 1986, and its nearly four decades of proven track record was decisive in winning this tender. Over decades, this deep cryogenic engineering capability has established AMPO as a preferred supplier for the world’s most demanding LNG projects. Its global reference list spans major liquefaction and export terminals on the US Gulf Coast, Qatar and Australia, plus import regasification plants across Asia and Europe. Now the company joins this landmark low‑carbon project in the Middle East. Its extensive installed base enables AMPO POYAM VALVES to leverage decades of cryogenic engineering expertise and deliver valves engineered for stable performance under the extreme low-temperature and harsh operating conditions required for LNG service. This latest contract further consolidates AMPO’s global leadership in cryogenic valve technology for the LNG industry. It expands the firm’s footprint in this strategically vital energy hub in the Middle East and backs ADNOC’s ambition to build a lower-carbon LNG production future.
